Don Whitney serves as President and CEO of Corporate Sports
Unlimited, Inc., Founder and President of The U.S. 10K Classic
and Founder and President of the World Children's Center.
Corporate Events & Meetings, Inc. (a division of Corporate
Sports Unlimited, Inc.) produces over 250 meetings, team building
and special events for the nation's leading companies serving
over 700,000 people annually. Recognized internationally for
their "Battle of the Superstars" and their unique "Employee
Appreciation Days," Corporate Sports Unlimited, Inc. also produces
Tenant Appreciation Days, The Indoor Games and Company Picnics.
Corporate Sports Unlimited, Inc. provides competitive team building
games and special events which foster team spirit, camaraderie
and fellowship to such clients as IBM, AT&T, Bristol Myers-Squibb,
Coca-Cola, General Electric and Xerox.
In addition, Corporate Sports Unlimited, Inc. offers complete design, consulting and management services to executive health clubs and spas in the finest office parks, resorts and hotels in the country. Since 1981, Corporate Sports Unlimited, Inc. has opened, managed and served as consultants for over forty-five (45) properties, including such notable clients as Pebble Beach, Grand Cypress Resort, Hilton Hotels, Omni Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Coca-Cola, Trammell Crow, Rock Resorts in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotels at Laguna Niguel, Rancho Mirage, Atlanta and Naples, and the Mauna Lani, Hawaii.
In Atlanta, Corporate Sports Unlimited, Inc. manages 16 clubs
with over 42,000 members including the Art of Wellness at Atlantic
Station, Atlantic Center Plaza Health Club, the Buckhead Athletic
Club, The Blomeyer Health Fitness Center at Emory University,
the Capital City Health and Fitness Center, Cox Enterprises,
Inc. Fitness Center, Winward Athletic Club, Druid Hills Golf
Club, Galleria Athletic Club, the Monarch Centre Executive Health
Club, The Plaza Executive Health Club at Bank of America, Turner
Athletic Club (CNN), Turner Athletic Club at Techwood, United
Parcel Service (UPS) Health and Fitness Center, 1155 PCW Fitness
Center and the Wildwood Athletic Club.
Don is also the Founder and President of The U.S 10K Classic.
A local, national and international sporting event, held each
Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, this road-racing event
(walkers, runners, inline skaters, cyclists and wheelchair athletes)
brings people together from around the world. This Georgia 501(c)(3)
non-profit event benefits (100% of the proceeds) children's
charities to help banish hunger, malnutrition and child abuse.
The U.S. 10K Classic was developed as a vehicle to bring awareness
and funding to children's charities, and for the development
of the World's Children Center.
Whitney, a ten (10) year veteran tennis professional, worked with Sports Illustrated for RockResort Properties at the Dorado and Cerromar Beach Hotels in the Caribbean.
Don has been or is a member of and is active in such organizations
as: Society of Incentive Travel Executives, Meeting Planners
International, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Chamber
of Commerce, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Convention &
Visitors Bureau, SHRM Atlanta (Society for Human Resource Management),
and serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement,
The U.S. 10K Classic and the World Children’s Center.
He supports IFCJ (International Fellowship of Christians and
Jews) and has been actively involved with Compassion International,
Save the Children, WorldHelp, World Vision and the Christian
Children's Fund since 1976. Don was honored by the Atlanta Chamber
of Commerce and the Atlanta Business Chronicle as the "1995
Small Business Person of the Year" and was a finalist in the
2002 Business Division for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the
Year for Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
