The idea for the World Children’s Center comes from Atlanta businessman Donald H. Whitney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Sports Unlimited (CSU), Corporate Events and Meetings and Founder and President of The United States 10K Classic. For most of his life, Don has had a passion for serving others and has dreamed about a safe haven where needy children from around the world can live in peace, free from both hunger and want.

"At the age of 13 a television info commercial on the welfare of children worldwide changed my world and my heart was crushed by the sight of starving and hurting children. At that moment, I made a commitment that I would make a difference in the lives of children and began sponsoring (writing and sending financial support) to a child that I wanted to provide some hope for. Today, my wife and I are blessed to be able to continue this by sponsoring twenty-one (21) children in different organizations around the world."

Corporate Sports Unlimited offers complete design, consulting and management services to executive health clubs and spas in the finest office parks, resorts and hotels in the country. Since 1981, CSU has opened, managed and served as consultant to over forty-five (45) properties. Headquartered in Atlanta, CSU manages properties that include the Turner Athletic Club (CNN World Headquarters), Buckhead Athletic Club, Cox Enterprises Executive Fitness Center (World Headquarters) , The Plaza Executive Health Club at Bank of America, and United Parcel Service (World Headquarters) Health and Fitness Center, among others.

Corporate Events and Meetings (CEM), a division of Corporate Sports Unlimited, plans and produces meetings, team building and special events for the nation’s leading companies. CEM produces approximately two hundred and fifty (250) team building/corporate events serving over 700,000 people annually.

In addition, Donald Whitney is Founder and President of The United States 10K Classic, Atlanta’s premier multi-event road race, bringing walkers, runners, world-class athletes, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes and professional cyclists together for a single cause - to raise funds and awareness for children’s charities and the development of the World Children’s Center. Celebrating its 15th anniversary on September 1, 2008, the Race has contributed more than 1.9 million dollars to the nonprofit community serving children.
